Thank you for visiting our website! We appreciate your interest in what we do and are striving to do within our community. Here at Gsus Music Therapy Services & Center we offer contracted music therapy services to address a wide range of needs within individuals and groups and we offer a wide range of music therapy interventions. We are honored to share our talents and services to address the needs of those within the special needs populations, those with physical and rehabilitative concerns, those with emotional and mental health needs and concerns, those who are elderly, those with medical conditions, those in hospice, those in palliative care, those who are grieving, those who provide care for those with these types of needs, and anyone who feels they could benefit from the healing, restorative, and therapeutic abilities of music and musical expression. We offer our services through facilities and organizations throughout the South Central Texas area and surrounding counties, in-home, and at our private facility.
Music therapy is a research-based therapy practice with interventions provided by a board certified music therapist that are designed to address specific needs. Like other therapies, music therapy is a referral-based service. The field of practice is classified as complimentary alternative medicine (CAM). Although it is not yet included as a standard practice in overall health care, research has shown music therapy interventions to be effective when integrated with other types of treatments and therapies. Music therapy has also been found to be an effective therapy approach as an alternative to, or integrated with, traditional talk and other applied therapies.
In addition to our contracted music therapy services, we established Gsus Harmonies Nonprofit, which allows us to offer music therapy performing ensembles for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those with mental health concerns. These ensembles are supported by community members, local businesses, and musicians throughout the South Central Texas area and counties. Specific information about our ensembles can be found on our nonprofit page (http://www.gsusmusictherapy.com/our-nonprofit/). Gsus Harmonies Nonprofit is always fundraising to enable us to provide music therapy services and interventions for those within the special needs populations, the homeless, and low-income members of our communities. Specific information about one of our fundraising projects is available at http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/help-for-helping-hands-through-community-music-therapy/294980. Gsus Harmonies Nonprofit is currently going through the process to make Gsus Harmonies Nonprofit a 501(c)3 organization. More news on that front to come.
